Who can perform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE's)?

  Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE's) are not a regulated or controlled act. You can perform an FCE if it is in your scope of practice. That said, like with most unregulated things, there is some self regulation. You should check your local referral sources, they may have restrictions. As an example in the state of California, according to The Physical Therapy Board of California,  a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) cannot perform a "physical therapy FCE".
